What's involved — the gas fitting process, step by step

Most gas jobs follow the same clear path, so you always know what is happening. Straightforward work — a cooktop, a gas hot water install, a heater or a bayonet point — is usually done in a single visit, often the same day.

  1. Call and booking — we ask what appliance or gas work you need, whether you have a gas supply, and how urgent it is, then give you an honest arrival window.
  2. On-site assessment and compliance check — we confirm your gas supply and pressure, appliance clearances, ventilation and access before starting.
  3. The gas fitting — we isolate the supply and make the connections with the correct materials and clearances, checking ventilation where needed.
  4. Leak testing and clean-up — we pressure-test the line and check for leaks, tidy up, and remove any old appliance and packaging.
  5. Compliance certificate and aftercare — we issue your Gas Compliance Certificate, cover the warranty, and are a phone call away afterwards.

Your options — the types of gas work

Gas fitting covers cooktops and ovens, gas hot water, heaters, and gas lines or bayonet points — each with its own supply, clearance and ventilation needs. The right approach depends on what you are running and your existing supply. Our gas fitting buyer's guide walks through the options, how to choose and how to stay compliant.

Brands we install — Rheem, Rinnai & Dux

For gas hot water and appliances we install and service the brands that have proven themselves in Gold Coast homes: Rheem, Rinnai and Dux. All three carry strong warranties and have parts readily available locally, so any future service is quick. We match the right appliance to your set-up rather than whatever happens to be in stock.

Every gas job is left compliant and leak-tested, with a Gas Compliance Certificate where required, and any hot water installation is fitted with the tempering valve that keeps delivery temperatures safe. All work is carried out by a QBCC-licensed gas fitter.

Why choose C's Plumbing & Gas

We are QBCC-licensed and hold Gas Licence L912278, we are fully insured, and we have spent well over a decade on Gold Coast gas work — so the trade who quotes your job is the one who stands behind it. Every job is backed by a workmanship warranty and left tidy and compliant, and our reviews come back to the same things: safe work, a straight answer and no upselling.

Common questions

Frequently asked

How long does gas fitting take?

Most common jobs — a cooktop change-over, a gas hot water install, a heater or a bayonet point — are completed in a single visit, often within a few hours. Larger work like a supply upgrade may take longer, but we always give you a realistic timeframe up front.

Do you offer same-day service?

Yes, where possible. If you call early and we have availability, we aim to attend the same day — especially for anything urgent like a gas concern. We are always upfront about the arrival window.

Do I need a licensed plumber?

For any gas work, absolutely — it must be carried out by a licensed gas fitter, and a compliant job comes with a Gas Compliance Certificate. We are QBCC-licensed and fully insured, and all gas work is carried out under our gas licence.

Do you service my suburb?

We cover the Gold Coast and surrounds — including Helensvale, Coomera, Ormeau, Southport, Robina and across the border into Tweed Heads — from our Yatala depot. If you are not sure, just ask when you call.

Do you handle both gas and electric?

We do — we are a full plumbing and gas team. Licensed gas fitting for cooktops, heaters, hot water and new lines with Gas Compliance Certificates, plus electric hot water and general plumbing, so one crew can sort the lot.

Do you provide a Gas Compliance Certificate?

Yes. Every gas job — install, repair or alteration — is certified by a licensed gas fitter and you receive a Gas Compliance Certificate on completion.

Can you install a gas cooktop in a kitchen with no existing gas?

Yes, we run new gas lines from the meter or LPG bottle through to your cooktop location, then connect, test and certify the install.

I can smell gas — what should I do?

Turn off your gas at the meter or bottle, ventilate the space, do not use any electrical switches or open flames, and call us. We respond to suspected gas leaks 24/7.

Do you do LPG as well as natural gas?

Yes. LPG (bottled gas) installs, regulator changes, bottle changeovers and copper line work — same licence, same certification process.
